that's what i mean- the PDK is not a clutchless manual...it's an automatic that has big button because people think they're going to use them- even though they will only use them a few times until they realize their superfluous, kinda annoying, and its better to just let the car do its thing if you're letting the car do its thing.
yeah- a Macan would need an entire underbody as well as an entirely new suspension....oh and Rothmans blue and white decals...

Thanks. Nothing especially amazing about a 2007 997.1 (911S) MT of course. Bone stock and will likely remain that way unless I get alot better at autocross. Porsche gets alot out of these engines so even with a professional tune, cats and hedders you really won't get much and prolly will lose low end torque...so messing with the engine is a non-starter. It's alot more car than anyone needs for autocross or even track. If I had a re-do I would have found a nicely restored air cooled job. I'm more comfortable around cars that leak ;) That said I've fallen in with a terrific bunch of cats who work on their own cars and are helping me learn the ropes. Other than some wicked tight spaces to work in they are not hard to work on and extremely reliable. That's all I got.
A 911 of some sort with a roof rack is pretty much my dream car. I can do without the safari look, but the roof rack is essential.
Seasucker is your friend.
They're really good. I drove up to Georgia a couple weeks ago along with a few friends. One of the guys had a borrowed SeaSucker and a Thule roof rack on his roof side by side. The bike on the Thule (full upright, not fork mount) wobbled the whole way. The SeaSucker was completely solid even at highway speeds for over 800 miles each way.
SeaSucker is cool, although in this case I would point out that when cars like TT's have the rack tower mounting bolt inserts already built into the roof panel (most recent Porsches have this, Mercedes, a few of our Subarus, etc) - you might as well use them. It makes it super easy and clean to pop the rack on and off. Flip up little door, screw in tower, done.
I bought a friend's old Seasucker recently and have put quite a few kms on in. I switch company cars often so can't have a permanent rack solution.
Super solid rack and has performed admirably so far, even on some rainy/windy drives. It's way quieter than I was expecting too, which is a plus. I figure that may change if I rack up two mountain bikes (I have the fork-up TA adapters). I haven't gone faster than 150km/h but that's mainly for fuel economy. 100% recommend. My only qualm is that there is no way to lock the rack/bike to the car. The suction cups come off easily with the flick of a finger so you can't really leave it on the car if you're worried about thieves.
