I grew up in the city and there was also something happening in the alley. Neighbor conversations, auto repair, card games in garages, beer drinking, dogs chasing cats and cats chasing whatever and sled riding in the alley down the street as it was steep. I’ve ridden by this alley entrance, which is across from the local baseball field at least 3 times a week for the past 25 years or so and there is always a photo op.

Meant the little guy in front. The tallest of LA weeds, the Mexican Fan Palm. And, yep, cucumber as the other protagonist.
