Tonight it was Southern Right 2019 Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa. Went well with grilled sardines and beet salad -Mike G

2014 Machete (California Syrah blend) from Orin Swift (Dave Phinney, not Davis Phinney) with a lamb meatball and chickpea Middle Eastern dish. Not that I really care, but apparently this wine was Wine Spectator's no. 6 wine on their top 100 in 2016. It's yummy, fer shure.

Preceded by a Founders Brewing Porter (no relation) from a bottle.

i went in to the supermarket to buy my usual really cheap Italian white wine which I use for poaching food. Whilst I was cooking I had a sip and found it surprisingly acceptable.

I’m halfway through a dry month and Hop Lark water has been my go to. Went nicely with smoked ribs tonight.

That said, I have some Triple Crossing pale ale and Yola mezcal waiting for me in a couple weeks.

There was nothing but Budweiser in the fridge on returning from the ride, but it was not a lawnmower beer kind of day. Too cool.

My brilliant wife had bought a Mondavi cabernet, aged in bourbon barrels, that was spot on. One of my brilliant sons had brought over a package of Aunt Elsie’s super-thin oatmeal ginger cookies that paired perfectly. Half the package and half the bottle.

Brilliant wife also made a concoction of chicken thighs with cabbage, tomatoes, carrots, onion, and cabbage that the garden is overflowing with. A little mozzarella from the store. And cabbage.

Finished with a bourbon cocktail.

It is the closest alternative I've found to a Tempier Bandol

I've been digging the local gin recently. This stuff with some Fever Tree tonic in a glass full of ice is heavenly.
