Show your tool modifications

Here's a couple of mine. This first one is obvious to anyone that has had the Park Tool arm slide out of it's holder while spinning a frame into position. The second one is a little less obvious. My sandblaster is a siphon feed type. The motor turns on when the light and vacuum are powered. The motor vibrates the cabinet enough to cause the aluminum oxide to move to the bottom rather than stick to the sides. It ain't OSHA approved but it sure works well. Let's see some of your modifications!

I did the same thing to my Park stand after almost dropping a hot frame. The old ones used to have a tab between the wedge that held the clamp in.

I just got a new jig so I've been hacking away at it.

I added graduation to the plates that support chainstays and seatstays. Made some dummy tires as well.


Adjustable BB stop.


A little extra leverage and cobbled together tube clamp.


$10 DRO.

I have a few I'll post later - I'm spending the rest of the year tuning up the shop.
One critical one I just did was to make a new giant wingnut for the new Park 44mm headtube facer/chaser - the wonky plastic QR unit it came with was a wambly piece of shit.

I just starting working something to help my J3 jig align and keep parallel the chain and seat stays for fat tire bikes,
Now that I saw Joel's elegant solution, I think maybe that's something to consider.
I am having trouble getting perfect alignment with the stays, so that there is maximum clearance for the crank and the tire, if's it's off a little bit it shows.

welded a bar and threaded rod, big washer centers it to BB bolt, I thought I'd put nuts and a washer at the center line of the seat tube and measure each side.
Comments, suggestions?

Speak to Don and see if he'll sell you one of the new doodads that fits on the BB tower. My JMan came with one and I made an arm with dummy tyre inserts which really helps to get everything central.

i made my own entire jig well for doing front triangles

it now sits behind the gas bottles waiting for a new owner



so i really modified the new one to work better it can now do rear triangles and uses basically tyhe same kind of positioning guides as you find in a CNCNC machinen

Its not the first thing I think I just invented check this out you can remove the rear of the jig and make forks on it, is that a first too?

when i was doing carbon rims the jigs were flimsy so i did design some.....then thought better of it as machining a wheel dishing tool is just taking the piss i think, (but boy would it be straight as a die accurate), i wanna get back to building carbon fibre things I'm quite good at that

pretty sure one of the commercially availabe fixtures allows this, but not as nicely.
