Hillary Clinton... what a fiasco. The old guard of american politics is gone. In a way the people said enough. I really hope Trump surprises everyone as a good president as much as he surprised the establishment by winning the election.

In before the lock!
I hope he starts acting like a president. The Clintons are done. But the president elect now has a lot of nerves to calm and soon. Financial markets are gonna tank and my overseas folks are very nervous about this huge shift.
Today is the day for Trump to act like a president and not a candidate.
Act like a president? I'm not sure he knows how to do that. He is who he is.
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk
My gut feeling says it was way better to have him win... It brings the monster to the clear. The monster is the resentment against diversity, imigration, the intellectual establishment and once it's given an opportunity to deal w/ the institutions, it will mellow out. Tensions within the american society will be resolved. If Hillary won, tensions would ehighten, resentment would rise.
Trump's win is the triumph of democracy: no matter how wrong we think others think.. they are citizens and must be represented otherwise we end in a decadent pseudo aristocratic society.
slow.
I fear his supporters. Like the ones who tagged the neighborhood south of mine with Nazi/Trump graffiti this morning.

I don't know that anyone in American public life has had as long and persistent a campaign of character assassination aimed at them as has Hillary. I too hope that Trump shocks the shit out of all of us by being a good president rather than the corporate-Christofascist robot that his party probably wants him to be!
We've seen this before. President Andrew Jackson, etc. He was elected by a global economic shift away from the people who voted for him. Similar upheavals are happening in other countries. He's made a lot of promises, and he'll have to keep them. This country ain't a casino. But I think he probably knows that.
NYC is as quiet as a Sunday funeral though. Gray day. Supposed to rain.
Buy dollars. They are on sale today!
First the Brexit... now Trump. We are watching a revolution of sorts: people are saying they won't accept established wisdom, the well behaved academic truth. There is a lot of risk but things are moving and moving faster than our capacity to understand, criticize, antagonize.

Yes but this President-elect specifically talked about how much he "loves war" and discussed "bombing the shit out of them" (granted, in a discussion of countering IS) as well as his recklessly tossing around the notion of actually using nuclear weapons. Hyperbole it most likely was, but remember Reagan's quip about "the bombing begins in 10 minutes" (I think that was it?) when he wasn't aware the microphone was keyed? That alone caused real consternation in Moscow. Trump's done a lot to create his own monster.
