    Default Table for a VSalonista

I just finished this table for VSalonista "Alex", delivered it to DC and made my way to the bike show in Richmond. The table is made of curly cherry and tiger maple. Alex wanted a small dining table that would be easy to knock down, so I made a trestle base that is held together with maple wedges. The most amazing part of the table is the top, which is one 15 inch board of highly figured cherry cut in half, I have never seen a board like that before!

beautiful. really clever design to meet the requirement.

will the cherry cut in 15 inch planks hold it's shape pretty well over time? you're right, that's a rare cut but makes for a fantastic piece.

Thanks for the comment, wood will always move with the changes in moisture, and if you try to contain the movement the piece will self destruct. Those boards were cut close to the center of the tree and are mostly quarter-sawn, which minimizes the warpage and cupping.

Very nice work. That cherry is gorgeous and I'm sure it'll look even better once it ages a bit.
