Alignment Tables at Auction

Let me first say I'm not making this post to promote my auction (I'm in the auction business and build frames in my free time), but when I saw these tables I couldn't help but think they would make perfect alignment tables.

There are about 30 of them in the auction. It's a large aerospace manufacturing company that is closing one of their locations. Here's the link to the lot catalog. Do a search by "layout" and they will all show up

The auction is in Connecticut on Wednesday. There is onsite bidding or you can bid live over the internet.

Do you have a sense of how this kind of thing does at auction? Obviously, transporting is half the battle. In your experience, do these tend to attract a lot of bids, or do they go fairly low?

You are in competition with the scrap metal people on them. It is around $.09 a pound and you can assume they weigh in the ball park of 2000 lbs each for the 60" ones. Honestly I bet you none of them will go higher than $500. It is the freight that will kill you. First there is the premium which is 18% (usually between 15-20%), then you have to pay a rigger to skid the product for you and load to the freight which you need to arrange. I am not sure who is on the list but that is an item I can not imagine you will get loaded for less than $500. Freight will be at a minimum of $1000 for a class 50 item. The buying price will be less than anything else I would assume.

Drew is probably right on...they will probably be in the $500 or less range. The early ones will probably bring more, but the ones in the 1300 lot#'s will bring less. At lot 1300 it will probably be after 8 pm and the crowd will have thinned out. We have several riggers we're working with and one that we give a lot of work to. If it help I'll offer free truck loading to any frame builders that buys a table. The riggers will be happy to do me a favor as long as I don't ask them to move any more machines to my shop...which isn't an easy delivery.

Wow....that 32x60 in lot 1300 is looking tempting. 4 hour drive.........hmmmmm

Tons of good equipment up for auction too.
