WD-40 and an old athletic sock is what I use to remove crud from a chain...let air dry for a few hours before applying the smelly stuff...with two sons in the household, the old socks accumulate rather quickly.

@one60 The NFS Ne Plus Ultra is special stuff and does not vanquish all others like NFS will to just about any prior chain lube. Next time simply log a couple hours of riding using the new chain. This will break down the shipping lube. Now please use hot water and Dawn dish liquid to clean the chain. Wipe dry and apply either NFS+ or regular NFS and you are good as gold.

What happened is not worth going into. Honest.

FWIIW I am very very close to a re-release of the NFS+. Might be two or three more months. Watch this space!

NixFrixShun just went there. We took the world's best Chainlube and gave it a shot of awesome.

NFS Blue Devil is made for the most extreme conditions without comprise. Designed for gravel and road riding in challenging conditions. This would be the one stop shop for rides like DK.

Blue Devil Formula is the Ultimate gravel and road chain lube. We go where others fear to tread.

Give us your worst, we give you the best.

*Early release here because you know...V

Tell us more TT. I get Blue Devil is for extreme conditions. Under regular day to day use, is Ultimate still recommended? When you would pick Ultimate vs Blue Devil?

I'll try to add your questions to the website description if no already answered there.

You can use BD for regular riding however I recommend NFS Ultimate for that over BD because it runs a bit cleaner...that's the only thing you'll notice. Well not entirely true, if you are a real nut about quiet drivetrains BD is a tad quieter but hey NFS Ultimate is already crazy quiet.

I'd pick BD for dirt/gravel riding esp. if I know that it will either be wet or I'm out for a full day slog and don't want to think about the chain due to dirt/mud/etc.

Conversely I pick NFS Ultimate for everything else! I'd not have a second thought using NFS Ultimate for rain riding on the road or gravel roads in good condition.

    BD is for going big.

    Helps?

I've been running BD for a while now, for regular road riding in dry conditions, i prefer the regular formula,
it's easier to wipe off, and builds up less than the BD. The regular formula is my favorite "dry conditions" road chain lube ever,
but here in the PNW, times of the year there is consistent rain and i need something more durable.

In the wet, the new formula lasts vastly longer on the chain, has better corrosion resistance.
If it's dusty, you'll find the slightly heavier "body" of the BD will have more build up, and you'll
need to clean off more often, but there is more lubricating quality to that formula.

Blue Devil is the perfect compliment to the Ultimate formula, not a replacement.

Thanks G. It seems my guinea pigs have been riding their bikes.

I've got two more products in skunkworks development right now. One is a replacement for the NFS+ Ne Plus Ultra, if it works will be just as good if not better and (wait for it) is so d@mn green that the squad would approve. The other is something that really needs to happen. It is an icky sticky heavy assembly grease that does not have nasty heavy metals in it.

Potential new product. Shooting for a Spring release. Blame the most awesome @velocolor for the push.
This is looking good. I've now got 300 miles of mostly wet and mucky road miles on the chain and it is dead silent, not showing dirt at all.
Fingers crossed. This is a highly speculative assertion...it might be AWESOME :)
*Yep, it's biodegradable and odorless because some Canadian treehugger wants it that way and I dig that.

I live for reviews on my e-commerce site like this >>

I switched over from Ultimate to Blue Devil on my MTB, CX bike and gravel bikes since they are all dirty and often wet rides & races. This weekend my XC MTB race was in a heavy downpour and the conditions got swampy (like many CX races). Many other racers had drivetrain issues but I did not. My entire drivetrain was covered in mud but it kept shifting fine and cleaned up well post-race. Given I'm often in the dirt & mud this seems a perfect choice for me.

Bill's been using that same bottle for a few years now. Apparently, he's figured out how to use it. I gave him the bottle, then a while later I gave a bottle to Bobby Lea, Mike Yozel and I think a few other staffers over there. They are all disciples. They are all smart.

i blame all of this you on you Tom. If you hadn't invited a total stranger to stay at your house and race at the track I'd never had the gumption to do this.

Looks like NixFrixShun made the cover of the Rolling Stones ;)

A very significant event is about to happen in a few months. I will be running out of NFS and will need to re-order. I had something like 4 or 5 bottles. The last one of them came with my Spectrum, the previous ones dated the ballers ride (remember these they were fun lol).

A buddy of mine has the hobby of restoring old Victrolas. He recently came across this tech manual [sic] and asked for a recommendation on what grease to substitute for the (presumably long gone) "Victor Motor Grease"

Naturally, I suggested NFS Race Grease!

Nice on Bob. NFS and Race Grease are pretty resistant to hazing and will work fine so yeah that will work!!!
