Recommendations on a new mattress?

This may sound really odd...
[...]...Ikea.

The last mattress I bought was from Ikea, maybe 10 years ago, and it's still going strong. I'd buy from them again in a heartbeat. It's nice to be able to go into the stores if there's one nearby and try them out.

Recently I also bought some pillows from Casper. I had issues with their down ones so I returned one set, but the other set of their regular pillows have become my favourite pillows ever. They made the transaction and return process super easy. I'd buy from them again as well.

Oh, I completely forgot about this, but custom handmade mattresses are also a thing. Maybe Seattle has a shop similar to this, but when we lived in Calgary, we bought our daughter's crib mattress from Blacksheep mattress company. They hand make everything in-house from sustainably sourced materials. Very nice folks as well.

In 2015, we tried out a wild number of mattresses. Not just brands but models. For example, we tried every SleepNumber, almost everything at Macy's, etc. We selected a firm BeautyRest Black and its been wonderful.

The games this industry plays with models names and tweaking things slightly for Store A Vs Store B makes comparison shopping the traditional brands infuriating.
