I make handwelted shoes. I'm a self-taught amateur and I've only made about 15 pairs. Here are some I've made.












And since someone is bound to ask, I started a pair of cycling shoes about a year ago but the project has been buried my other stuff. These will have a custom laminated carbon fibre midsole (if I ever manage to finish them).

Youtube videos, then books. I started when I graduated from design school and no longer had access to the schools metal and wood workshops. I wanted to do something that I could do with basic tools in the corner of my small apartment. I've acquired a bunch of machines since then, though.

That's very cool - something I've wanted to do for a while (as well as build a bike frame...) mainly as I have bad feet and off the pef shoes aren't great. Not sure I have the time to invest though.

I suggest taking a shoemaking course if you are truly interested and want to be efficient with your time. I made about 5 pairs over a year or two by myself before starting to get "acceptable" results, I'm sure a course would've cut down that time by quite a bit.
