Shameless name-dropping: The children's voices heard on this album are from two of Arnie Lawrence's children, Jana and Erik, who were age 10 and 8 at the time of this recording. Three years later they were both playing in my very first band. :)

In a bit of tragic irony, Simpson’s “Paradise” holds the distinction of being the last song ever recorded at the Butcher Shoppe, the Nashville studio Prine operated with producer-engineer David “Ferg” Ferguson. The facility was recently demolished as Nashville continues to expand and accommodate new residents and a stream of tourists. “They wrote it all down as the progress of man,” Prine wrote in “Paradise.”
