We often traveled with what we called emergency coffee. Originally it was a Starbuck's variety of instant coffee but we've picked up some other brands that I can't remember now. We haven't been doing a lot of travel these days.

But as my wife says "Better than a headache." And Lachlan Morton is her spirit animal, so we'll likely end up trying this.

The only time I drink instant joe is when I'm flyfishing: I always buy a jar of instant for the bar in the village doesn't open till 10 and I take so much fishing gear there isn't room for James Hoffmann kit as I have to schlep everything to the airport usu to rent a car.

But I like Lachy's triple play when he hit French bars on his Alt Tour this past summer: he would order a Coke, beer, and double espresso
