Yep, my mother was a labor and civil rights supporter, hung out with the likes of Pete Seeger and Adlai Stevenson, lived in the East Village, etc. We learned about the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire, Medgar Evers, coal wars of WVa, the 4 girls in a church ... and the women who died of radiation poisoning in the watch face painting factories. That's my childhood. Plus my dad with a Geiger counter.
