Very nice. My dad carved a lot of birds. He was not aiming for competition, just to look good. I'll try to post a few pictures later.

That's beautiful.
I remember an annual show in Chincoteague VA, so I just looked it up. Still running - on Easter, just missed it. But if you get a chance some time, it can be pretty amazing.

He's life size, about 24" total. Stares at me when I work. The guy who carved this, Eric Kaiser we met unexpectedly at a carving show. We bought an early piece of his in 1984 then turns out bought his first commissioned piece the matching hen. 34 years later we met him for the first time, he remembered my name from that first 75.00 order. This piece was closer to a custom frame... We live on the water so I stare at great blues daily.

My mom is an artist and when I was kid she had a spell where she’d paint simple wooden duck decoys and sell them at craft fairs etc. We had a drake and a mallard on our coffee table for years.
