In the fall, walking stick insects get blown down out of the trees onto our house. We learned a few years ago that they like black cherry, and we have a lot of black cherry in the woods around the house. This one appeared yesterday during the storm we had, and it found a black cherry leaf on the ground for lunch. The males are tiny, so this is a female, probably also looking for a place to put an egg case judging by the size of her abdomen.
