Thanks Josh! I definitely have the track bug. Trying to balance it with family/friend time, bike, travel, a move, and a bunch of self-improvement stuff (languages, yoga, strength training) as I hit the six month mark in retirement. I think a dedicated track car will put me over the edge, but it's going to be hard to resist at some point. The stock market in the toilet is making it easier to hold off, especially since I will need a trailer and tow vehicle. Do you still have your 997? I recall you were thinking of selling a while back.

If you are planning to hold off on the race car, NEVER try one :)

I did sell it. It was just too capable at the track, that and we are spending most of our freetime camping :) When I get back into it I'll fix up a POS P car or maybe some oddball class low(er) HP car for track days. After I moved up in brackets and getting comfortable with car dynamics I really loved setup for corners and coming out. The rest was just abusing alot of horsepower which is insanely fun but less fulfilling to me.

    I'll be back :)

Once you go past the point of using a trailer or leave the car at the track, you have reached the point where going to a single seater makes a lot of sense. Might not be practical for tall guys like Lionel but if you fit in the cockpit the experience is on another level.

I'd love to rent one and get some instruction. There are a bunch of well regarded programs like that for spec. cars.

The thing to avoid are the 1 day offers where they tell you you will be drive a formula 1. Sure they let you drive some formula renault/f3 and then a restricred old f1 chassis for 3 small laps but for insurance reasons these things usually come equipped with a very simplistic system they call traction control. In reality this is not a traction control but a device that cut off the accelerator when the steering wheel is at an angle. Result is a lot of frustation for someone with a tiny bit of experience behind a wheel.

There's currently a track prepped 987.2 R on Autotrader. Car appears to be in Wisconsin.

I wish there was an easy way to shorten the gearing on those caymans.

Something must be happening this weekend at the old Formula One track in town Circuit Tremblant. Because all of a sudden there seem to be a plethora of cars in this vein with regular looking guys filling them up at PetroCanada…

tremblant must have noise limit days like Laguna Seca does. Creatively routed to direct the dBs away from the monitor location.

And here I, not a German car afficiando as my tastes go to Italian cars so ignorant in these matters, was perhaps too easily impressed that this example had a sort of stem paint matched to the frame with his brake caliper rather than the ubiquitous red ones….but here is a better look at said exhaust accessory…

I like the sort of industrial look - but those exhausts look stupid and are asking for trouble.
It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage.

those angled tips are just slipped or bolted on for events at that specific track to deal with the noise ordinance.

I see a few Taycans on my commuting routes.

They seem wide to me. Not sure they are, maybe it’s just the shape.

But, it's a fun shooting brake (possibly wagon).

I agree, that version ^^^ of both the Taycan and the Panamera are weird enough to be cool, or vice versa.
