Another phrase I had to look up: illegitimi non carborundum = "Don't let the bastards grind you down", the phrase has no meaning in Latin, originated during WWII.

This very subject thread turned out to be very useful helping my friends in Ukraine that have worked with me since 2000 trying to make their part of the world better with bicycles. It connected me again to Caspar the OP who has helped us before. Recently he was able to find in the Netherlands where he lives, generators and a trucking company going to Ukraine. Putin's invasion of Ukraine has made a mess of their lives. They spend much of their time in the dark and cold. While in correspondence working on all the details I found out the laser cutting company that makes my SS fixtures in Ukraine is also making wood burning heaters that can also double as a cooking stove. We ordered 50 at $130 each. Many have been donating once they heard about the need. We hope we can find donations for even more.

Our electric power went out for a bit yesterday and I felt inconvenienced until I realized what a tiny thing that was compared to those suffering in Ukraine. I am pleased my connections have been able to provide some assistance.

For those not following what I have been up to, our frame/bike workshop in Bucha Ukraine was broken into by the Russians and they stole general tools like drills and vises but not all our frame making fixturing. We had used this project as a framebuilding training ground for those that had taken my framebuiding class to refine their skills.
