I have definitely become interested in the class D tech, especially since one of the parameters I was looking to change from the McIntosh was weight--and size and why not heat? I have not aggressively marketed the old stuff (it is sounding very nice now that it is out of storage) but looking more seriously lately at alternatives. There are so many brands and offerings it is quite overwhelming. I am an old fan of PartsExpress.

Last year I bought a MiniDSP SHD power to replace my aging Adcom separates. If you want/can go all digital, it’s really good. Not perfect, but that’s mostly ergonomics and software. The difference with Dirac is big and better. And the footprint of the thing is small, maybe 10” square? I’m past wanting my space dominated by gear.

Amp is the MiniDSP (that’s the power part). Speakers are Jeff Bagby’s Continuum, built from the meniscus audio kit and the 12” sealed sub that Jeff sketched out.

so is Dirac implemented by minidsp or do they have their own alternative (clarity for your previous post)?
I'm seeing a 125 and a 250 watt amp option with them, which one do you use?

I see many of these amps using balanced inputs. Does anyone have thoughts on that?
