Crema purchased in 2012 still going strong. Here our protagonist is taking in the vistas from Saddle Peak in Topanga Canyon, CA. I'm not meticulous about bike cleaning, but when I do give it a bath, it sure sparkles and pops. I should probably clean it more often!

I forgot to ask last time I saw you ... are you a pistachio person in general?

magnificently, as you'd expect
I'm trying to be smart enough, in my 50s, not to trim my 60s off of that nice steel steerer. I'll send you a picture once I make up my mind.

What could you tell us about the first bike? Classy paint scheme, with a horizontal top tube, too.
That one belongs to a local customer who picked it up yesterday. She has a second-generation Hampsten (Dave Levy-built) Cinghiale Pro with Campy Daytona and wanted something a little more modern. The frame is a Levico/Il Barone hybrid (smaller diameter tubes with Enve carbon fork and rim brakes) with 12-speed Campy Chorus and Astral Solstice wheels, Challenge tires.
The paint was a riff on something she saw on-line: blue-green with bubblegum pink graphics and fork/tube "shadows" - I was a tad skeptical about the colors but I think they worked out great. The green gives it this sort of solemn look and the pink has a really fun pop to it. Despite how dark the paint looks you can clearly see the tubes and welds beneath it - and the welds are perfect, btw, a testament to Jason Grove's skill. Days like this keep me liking my job!

Off to Paso Robles for a week of riding, sporting new Astral Veil3 wheels with 30mm Challenge tires. The potholes won't know what hit them.

New bike:30 Levico model, same wheels as above, mostly Ultegra. So much steely succulence.
