    King Crimson,
That brings back a rush of memories.
That art on the album cover was awesome.
The music would not be what I'd enjoy listening to often today, but at the time,it was gripping.

If you like Chet Baker, this is worth a look and listen.
It is Chet playing with bassist and pianist in 1985.

Never heard of Jesus Molina until today. Too amazing not to share.

I just discovered this recording from 2003, featuring four former members (though, if I'm not mistaken, never concurrently) of 1970s British prog-rock/proto-fusion band Soft Machine, here reconvened for a "reunion" tour of sorts.
Allan Holdsworth (guitar), Elton Dean (woodwinds & keyboards), Hugh Hopper (bass), and John Marshall (drums).

    Yeah, that’s a stunner.
Linda is one of my all time favorites and in recent years I’ve gotten deep into Emmylou Harris as well, given she is still touring and accessible live.

    Unrelated but to continue the topic;
I’ve been the biggest Marley fan since middle school and one of my prized possessions was the four CD box set Songs of Freedom. It could be dismissed as a greatest hits compilation but it also had a ton of rarities and more esoteric songs, particularly the early stuff.
You can’t find it on Spotify in its entirety but people have tried to recreate it via playlists to reasonably good but not perfect effect.

Anyway it’s on vinyl and my better half gave it to me for Christmas. It sounds terrific and it’s crazy how after 30+ years when one songs ends you instantly know what’s coming next.

if you might, please go find the highest quality version of Good Bye Pork Pie Hat by Mingus.
    It's the best I have.
Just a listener, not a player.
    I'm sure you have better.
I just keep coming back to this.

I realize this is me posting another item that isn’t just music. But if you liked listening to the Police, I think you’ll like listening to this. If not, put it on my tab.

The new (old) car has a 6-CD changer in the trunk, with a spare cartridge. I am not planning to modernize the head unit, nor have I owned CD's in a number of years, so I'm on an early quest to (re)buy the 10-12 best albums to keep in regular rotation. To start, I snagged Achtung Baby and Van Morrison Moondance at our local record store for a few bucks.

I do wish this was available to the public in high definition and high quality sound, but this is the world were living in.

I do regret missing my opportunity to see them live.
I was distracted by other things in life at that point in my life.

I was today years old when I discovered bassist Jerome Preston, throwing down an absolutely nasty groove here with Maceo Parker:

Not too shabby, although I didn’t like all of the percussive break.

One of the guys in the band I just started playing with suggested "Take Five" as a possible tune to add to our repertoire, but he posted a link to some anonymous youtube playalong as fodder for his argument...and all I could think was "How could you possibly improve upon the original?" This is so hauntingly sublime:

But yeah, that Lucas Brar sure can play guitar.
