"I guess you're some weird relic of an obsolete age." - davids
This is not a criticism but Miami does have a "flashier" kind of watch scene (so I am told).
In the NYC metro area (and the short time I was in the Boston area) the watch seemed to confound people. Several watch friends (and acquaintances from watch events/meet-ups) said the same thing: it's kind of cool but just looks like a really big DateJust. As such, there did not seem to be much interest for it (pre-pandemic). My AD shared that the precious metal ones on leather straps did about as well as the precious metal DateJusts (or Day/Dates..can't remember which one it was so long ago) on leather straps in that they sat for months in the case and were finally discounted just to get rid of them. Once the SkyDweller steel versions were announced, the pandemic arrived, and the shortages began it seemed they became in high-demand (aka allocation models).
Maybe it was a slow starter in some markets. It's not like the Daytona was a hit when first announced.
Again, just a perspective. You might have professional insight.
I got both these watches last year and thought I'd finally post them:
First up is the Redux VALOR. This is purchased thruogh the Kickstarter campaign back in May of 2021. Finally took delivery in October of 2023. I ordered it with the Miyota 90S5 movement, X1 superluminova lume and added a paratrooper watch strap. The rotating bezel is nice and clicks positively with absolutely no slop in the action. It's okay overall. The presentation in the packaging was really quite nice.
Immediately after I received the Redux VALOR, County Comm released (November 2023) this Maratac titanium pilot automatic and I jumped on it. I had a (2017) steel automatic and currently have two steel quartz, so thought the titanium version might be nice. It has the Miyota 9015 movement, the previoius steel version had the Miyota 8215, and was the same 39mm size so that certainly piqued my interest. I like the titanium finish more than the Redux, but in general I like the steel finish better. One thing I really like about Maratac is the absence of branding on the watch face. Nice and clean.
Selling off parts of my watch collection that either have never been worn or rarely worn (Alpina, Hamilton, San Martin, and Seiko).

Kinda glad this watch didn't sell. Been enjoying it back on the Artem strap lately.

have I asked about that Artem strap before? If not, what do you think? I've debated, and there aren't a lot of options for nice quality sailcloth straps...a lot of reviews speak highly, but not sure if they're biased...

My issue with all of them, no matter the price, is that they are not actually sailcloth.
All reviews will have some sort of bias.
With that said, I am happy with this one:

I'm 7.75" in cool and about 8" in hot. It's fine because the watch head is larger/longer. On a 36mm, it would be too short.
I have found the standard 115/75 is too short. 120/80 is good on 40+mm watches, and 125/80 (rare length) is good on most.
I have moved more towards XL straps in 125/90 or even 130/95. It is rare a "stock" strap fits me.
Bracelets often have enough links but not always:
DateJust 36mm added a link, Submariner Date 41mm and Explorer II 42mm did not remove any, Tag Heur Twin Time 39mm weirdly removed 1 link.

I've always liked the simplicity of George Daniels, and the rarity.
What was weird to me are the modern (as-in the past 5 years) Rolex watches which are not that rare.
Why auction them when pre-owned dealers can handle that stuff for a lot less money for both buyer and seller?
And then I found these articles:
How Luxury Watches are Being Used for Money Laundering
Watches As Tools Of Money Laundering And Illicit Finance
I don't think you can launder goods thru Sothebys.
I assume some of the watches just came with consignment with more valuable watches with the same collector.
The green rolex, although new, is reversed. Left-Right. It looks backwards.
Some of the other ones have tiffany faces which are always sought after. There was also a Patek with Tiffany dial for sale. That was very nice.
