My wife and I have been students of all things Shaker for 40 years or so, especially their architecture and furniture crafting. The NYT ran this article a few weeks ago about the last two Shakers remaining in their village in Maine. I’ll post a photo of a rocking chair kit that I built when we first married, as I loved the lines and the replaceable seating surface woven of cotton webbing. If you’re ever in the Albany area, Mother Ann Lee is buried there…interesting life and concept.
