    Default November 15th

My wife made it official, she's fed up with Christmas shopping advertising.

I listen to my lists on Spotify at home and in the truck and watch documentaries on Prime and Netflix. The only Christmas stuff is the required viewing of Christmas Vacation.

It takes a courageous person to swim against the tide of giving and getting presents on the coming holiday.

But it is the right thing to do.

My negative feelings towards Christmas started in the Summer, specifically 29 June. That’s when my regularly scheduled programs were disrupted, as the Hallmark Channel kicked off their Christmas in July marathon.

We're moving to a small town in Wyoming in the spring. They don't do any Christmas stuff until the second week of December. My kind of people.

In the Dorptown people have their tasteless plastic blow up Christmas lawn ornaments out already. That's how I know Thanksgiving is sometime in the next few weeks.

Technically, those are in the aisles back in September.

It's probably just me, but I like seeing Christmas decorations for extended period of time.

November to February is usually filled with dreary weather in the Upper Midwest, and I find it nice to see houses lit up, in particular the tastefully decorated ones.

Of course, there are a lot of kitschy decorations, and I particularly find too many red bulbs (and to a lesser extent green bulbs) to be annoying, but the others make up for those with no sense of aesthetics.

Christmas Eve is three weeks after Thanksgiving weekend. My son is here for Thanksgiving and we're traveling to PHX to spend it with friends. I say friends because family Thanksgivings are too stressful. I don't expect to have a tree here this year for Christmas. We're getting rid of stuff in preparation for moving to Wyoming in the spring. All that Xmas stuff will stay boxed up. We'll go nuts next year.
