For anxiety and pain management, yeah. The pain management part is vital because sometimes the pain triggers a memory. But, it treats symptoms and doesn't get to the root of the problem. This is a good listen from Jocko. It's long but they describe how the psychedelics allow them to address the issues in their head, like a walk through their memories. I listen to Jocko podcasts while I work in the garage or make road trips.

Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced. — James Baldwin
Forty five and half years ago, Jimmy Carter gave his "Malaise" speech, which didn't even use the word.
July 15, 1979: Crisis of Confidence Speech (video and transcript) | UVA Miller Center
From that speech, still so appropriate today. Substitute "climate" for "energy" and it's spot on.
"We are at a turning point in our history. There are two paths to choose. One is a path I’ve warned about tonight, the path that leads to fragmentation and self-interest. Down that road lies a mistaken idea of freedom, the right to grasp for ourselves some advantage over others. That path would be one of constant conflict between narrow interests ending in chaos and immobility. It is a certain route to failure.
All the traditions of our past, all the lessons of our heritage, all the promises of our future point to another path -- the path of common purpose and the restoration of American values. That path leads to true freedom for our nation and ourselves. We can take the first steps down that path as we begin to solve our energy problem." --Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the U.S.A.

Carter got the first bit right. Unfortunately a small majority of voters chose the path that leads to fragmentation and self-interest. Or, as he says, the route to failure.
We watch TV shows like game of thrones were the catch phrase "Kill all the masters" is met with enthusiasm and endorsed by most people. Movies are filled with "bad" people getting killed. Who is bad? Who's is good?
good question

I wonder if this guy Hegseth will be 'weeded out'.

I'm more interested in how this leads to common good. No offense ment, there are endless quotes and meme-worthy materials to be waved about. That get's us nothing.

Almost all of this was covered in the hearings. For drunk in uniform, unless you don't drink, chances are you've been drunk in uniform. In my 27 years of service as an enlisted and officer, I have never seen anyone get busted for being drunk in uniform. Uniform or civilian clothes, it's what you do while drunk, like trying to drive or inappropriate behavior such as fraternization or sexual misconduct. Hegseth's ex-wife denied an abusive relationship. It's her sister that is making the claims for the purpose of delaying the vote. I'd like to see him in the job, but if he won't be approved, then someone else will take his place with similar ideas and values concerning the direction of the U.S. military.

Yes, Hegseth seems like a wonderful guy, especially if you need someone to lobby for your pardon after committing war crimes like murdering civilians.
https://time.com/7176342/pete-hegset...imes-military/
"His defense of these men attracted criticism from military leaders and former officials, who argued that his actions undermined the integrity of military justice and set a dangerous precedent for presidential interference. Critics warned that such high-profile interventions by a sitting President would undermine the military justice system and embolden troops to disregard the chain of command or engage in reckless behavior without fear of punishment. Others expressed concern that such interventions could damage the U.S. military’s global reputation, particularly among allies who uphold strict standards of conduct in armed conflicts."
Yes, he certainly seems like a wonderful candidate, even without the rape allegations.
What a world.
For me, the drunkenness and sexual assault stuff are side dishes. The entree is negative leadership experience. And by negative I mean running not one but two veterans’ charities into the ground. That’s multi-dimensional incompetence, as it’s both organizational and moral since aid to the non-profit orgs was also compromised.
Staggeringly poor choice.

I thought Hegseth was the Squi , Brett Kavanaugh use to drink skis with?
Getting to the point, I cannot keep my drunk government officials apart?
Maybe the Gov Healthcare plan can get a volume discount for :
1. Rehab for appointees
2. Senior Memory Care for serving congressional members
It definitely will be bipartisan.

What are the qualifications? It's a CEO job, what qualifies a person to be a CEO? The CEOs I've worked with typically had an MBA from an Ivy League school and experience at differing levels of management. I'd prefer a person with experience in every level of military service with a strong foundation in history. Our recent history shows a lack of understanding what the military needs vice what some think tank says we should buy. For example, we're building frigates based on the FREMM model used by the French and Italians. It is a simple design that is highly capable but we've altered the design, downsized the gun, and made it slower and less efficient. We should build them exactly like the European versions, complete with a 5" gun and just upgrade the weapons system to work with our other ships.
OT, but we spent stupid money on the LCS program for a bunch of problematic ships that benefited some constituents of influential members of Congress. We didn't build replacements for our aging cruisers which are quickly going away at the end of their hull life. We didn't need to build an identical replacement, but cruisers serve as component commander ships with an enhanced communication and radar suite and a metric shit-tonne of vertical launch missiles including versions that can shoot down ICBMs. My son is a Marine aviator who will be in an F-35 in about a year. Marines did not upgrade to Super Hornets and still fly legacy Hornets (F/A 18 C,D) from the 80s and 90s. They are upgrading directly to the F-35, which means they're competing against the other services and some foreign allies for airframes. The F-35B replaces the Harrier, so it's necessary, but the slow introduction means a lot of pilots are spending time in simulators instead of in the air.
