I know the left STI road shifter pulls less cable than the left MTB shifter. Has anyone had much luck using a triple road front deraileur w/MTB crank and STI brake/shifters? I believe the chainring spacing is the same road to MTB. IRD makes a 9 speed specific derailleur with enough capacity to handle the mtb chainrings/crank I want to use. I'm concerned about the derailleur bottoming out against the chainstay. Is there another option other than bar-cons? Does anyone make a 'travel-agent' type device that can increase the cable pull of the front STI road shifter to let it actuate an mtb FD ? Any input is appreciated.
