I have really been enjoying the darker variations and was curious if anyone has a favorite or two that I could look for to enjoy during the weekend.
Thanks

Try Ommegang, the original brew.
I prefer their Hennepin which is much lighter.
I never met a Belgian beer I didn't like.
I'll keep looking though. :beerglass::cheers::beerglass:
chimay blue
affligem (sp?)
Sounds like you want to be looking for Belgian Brown Ales, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale or a Dubbel. (Tripels, by the way are ligheter in color and typically "stronger" in flavor)
Some good choices would be:
Ommegang (as already mentioned)
Westmalle Trappiste Dubbel
Trappiste Rochefort 6 or 8
St. Bernardus Pater 6
St. Bernardus Prior 8
Now I'm thirsty!
+1 westmalle
Petrus
Callewaerts
Or try to find some of the winter beers. Some of the brewers tend to get a little darker for their Christmas brews. Be aware that those can be as deadly as they are delicious.
I write for daily serving
and now I'm all the sudden thirsty.
Gotta try Rochefort 10
flemish for wifebeater........
Duvel.
Some of the domestic microwbreweries are making beers in the belgian style that I think are better than some belgian brews.

long trail double bag is a satisfying double.
But go for authentic belgian- corsendonk, abbey brown ale.

I drank a magnum after defending my dissertation, then made the bottle into a lamp on my office desk.
