I also thank you for that little tidbit of info that will no doubt be put into use when my girlfriend get her touring bike:) I'll bring some Okie beer if I ever make it out to Flagstaff.
See, you are collecting your style through experience. not from the WWW. that's where it's at. it will show in your work. You stop on by the World HQ any time! - Garro.

Zank did that picture group on FNL a little while back, and it saved me from ever having too, as he does it exactly like I do {so it MUST be right!} with exactly the same tools. Alignment is my playground. It gets me off, my little game. the seat tube has to be spot on, the center of the axle has to be perfectly in plane with the center of the BB & the ST, and the front triangle I get down to a few thou, less the .25mm in any measurement. - WAY straighter then people. I do not cold set. my over size tubes are not tolerent or allowing of it. I align with tacks. let me know if you have any other questions. Eric, right? - Garro.

thanks for playing.
1: powder. local for 1-color, Spectrum PW for anything beyond that. wet doesn't hold up to what people do with my bikes. I did it for awhile. they ended up looking like a mile of mud fence. pingers & scrapes all over. maybe if i did a nice lug bike someday....... 2: I sure hope so. I sure like it. you should build one, I bet you would like it. 3: yes, thank God! now it's dusty, but not hot enough for the fishing to really turn on, damn windy, too. 4: Glad to help - good fun! - Garro.

Garro, I've wanted to replace my Wicked F.C. forever becuase Chris didn't think anyone should ride a bike as big as I asked for!!!!
I crushed three of his frames racing...your comments ring a bell ;)
YOU are not helping matter you eff'r. My mtn bike racing days are over becuase my hands can't take the abuse but I still ride dirt
and love fat tyres very much. Of all the builders in all the bars I'd pick you to build something around a Schwalbe Big Apple 29 x 2.35
Carry on.
TT - we have oversize tubing, front shocks, & 29er wheels now! you need to bump up from your Model T. bikes have finally caught up to you! - Garro.

Hey Steve, just wanted to say hello. Wallace and Ladmo was on KPHO. Used to watch it after school as well. They showed Roger Ramjet which was a funky cartoon.
When people ask who my heroes are, your name is at the top of my list. I've always admired what you've done. See you in a couple of weeks!

Re: Coconino Cycles
650eff yeah. just as soon as i get some other things taken care of, i'm building one asap to redeem myself for the 26r. people like the 26, but you know the sort of ugly i'm referring to. going to worry as much about the rear as the front this time. (it's functionally straight yo)
so are you using any circle hooks? co-polymer lines? redeye (rockbass) has been the hot thing here lately. aggressive little dudes sharing the waters with smallies. nearly catfish time, need some fish in the freezer.

Steve, I know exactly what you mean. I've always like that smooth transition of the tubes. My Schwinn Stingray had that look to it (according to Sheldon Brown they were not brazed but looked like that from their welding technique). Anyway, a Schwinn looked way superior to everyone else's Texas Rangers. When I first got started in mtn biking in 1986 I had a Trek 850. I was riding with guys on fillet brazed Fishers. I just remember feeling kind of 2nd class with my Trek. MM

So hear is another questions and I hope it doesn't strike to close to home. How do you stay motivated building things you can't ride?
(You don't have to answer this one if you don't feel like it.)

Roger Ramjet, he's our man, hero of our nation, for his adventures just be sure & stay tuned to this station! Get ahold of me, Barin - we will be in the White Mtns from the 23rd for a week. meet us! We could meet in Alpine, AZ. - Garro.

Because bikes are beautiful. I love bikes. why paint elabourate works of art? those are useless for anything other then looking at. I like the interaction. I dig the people. I love metal. why would i stop? At least i'm not in jail in New Hampshire making "live free or die" license plates - now THAT would suck - Garro.

Re: Coconino Cycles
When you send frames to the local powdercoater for single color, are the stickers over the top or do you have high temp decals under a powder clear?
-
Re: Coconino Cycles
And thanks for the alignment answer, btw. I saw Zank's mini slide show a few weeks back, and it's cool you guys have similar processes. What do they call that, parallel evolution?

I put stickers over the top. I agree with B-tragers' idea on this {his old santa Cruz frames} where Mtb's get scratched & you just put on new stickers. with the decals under the clear when you scratch the clear the sticker comes off too, and looks knackered {YRMV}. everyone has the option to bump up to Spectrum Powder if they want painted on logos, I credit them for the local paint job & they deal with Mark & Liz to come up with the look they are after. - Garro.

that's just how you use that particular tool properly. Big props to Joe Bringheli! - Garro.
