This falls under Collaborative Effort: Custom Knife maker Ed Schempp & Spyderco Knives.
Yesterday one of my students gave me a gift….A collaborative knife designed by custom knifemaker Ed Schempp, and produced by Spyderco. This came out of Spyderco’s collaborative VG-10 Ethnic knife series. The blade design is that of a Moro/Malay/Filipino Kris blade. This is one solid knife…easily feels almost twice as heavy as my daily carry Endura. The polished steel bolsters add to the heft. Because of that It also makes a great fist load. The wave design is essentially a large serration that adds to cutting ability of the blade. The handle is micarta with polished stainless bolsters. The micarta is a bit smooth for my tastes. I would like to see something with a little more texture. The handle design is very comfortable and the finger ramps insure that your hand won’t slip up the blade if you happen to hit something solid. At first glance I would have thought the design interesting (being a Filipino blade arts instructor) but would not have considered buying it. After handling one, I wouldn’t hesitate to grab another one. It’s one well made knife with excellent cutting properties. Too bad they don’t make them anymore.

The rock star is dying. And it's a small tragedy. Rock stars have blogs now. I have no use for that kind of rock star.

Thanks Dazza! Howdy folks... Ive been away for a bit. TCB.. ya know?
Anyway, I wanted to add this image. Not a shameless plug of self but a photo of a 'field' tested tool in action ( and yeah.. mebbe just a little proud of the hand craft)!
Cheers and may your New Year be prosperous friends!!!
Here's one I made probably ~7 years ago for my brother. He wanted a 'user' finish and pic is before edge was finished grinding.
Not much in comparison to Creighton's work but he still uses it.
laughter has no foreign accent.
A new kitchen knife for friends... This blade has a long story as to why it was made the way it was. I.E. the use of rivets to attach to the handle. To use the good blade ( sans the handle it was designed with) I needed to drill three holes into 58Rc 440C stainless.. Thank goodness for carbide!!
I do have a couple of fork jobs coming up...+ a new three season ride for myself. I have a back log of different sorts. I promise stuff to pals and through time and tide get to the making. I do not have a knife of my own nor a bike of my own. I do more for others than I do for me!!!
Here's a couple pics of one of the knives I don't even use. It's a drop point hunter from a guy in Missouri who's been making knives for close to 40 years. I can't afford a Loveless so this is about as close as I can get.
Heap sees, but few knows...
