Default shoe selection for coordinating colorways

    what's appropriate and what's not?

can black ever be the wrong choice?
which fabrics for tan suede shoes?
when can you wear white shoes?
    cordovan color shoes, really?

Assuming they're not sneakers, when you retire to Ft. Lauderdale.
    cordovan color shoes, really?
    Sometimes, and for some people.
By the way, Too Tall HATES the word "colorway."

Did you edit that in? Yes, I'm thinking white or brown suits. But paired with a khaki cotton suit, white shirt, and black tie, in the summertime, it can make a refreshing yet surprisingly formal ensemble.

Is this some sort of test?

    Works. Totes works.

Nothing is clear cut. Except maybe the white shoe thing.

Hard to go wrong here. I'm thinking chestnut.

Just be sure to set your phone on vibrate and don't set it on the goddamned table.

Deep cordovan shoes looks nice with navy blue from what I've observed.

That is what I am currently wearing. Snowy white button-down shirt, open at the neck.

Navy suit without tie, white shirt, and deep cordovan shoes is a classic casual good look for gentlemen.

Every so often, I'm tempted to break the "no-brown-shoes-with-a-blue-suit" rule, but I haven't done it yet. You'd have to have the right shoes, I think. Straight brown captoes, no way, but something interesting in an English Tan, with the right shirt and tie, would say "I know I'm breaking the rule. What of it?"

    Talk me out of this.

when the discussion is fine shoes, cordovan is not a color, its the choice in leather.

    Scream it from the effing-roof-tops!

I make my kids turn off their phones when we're together, mainly when eating or visiting. I turn off my phone when i'm with a customer. The person in your presence should be you're priority, atmo. I can't stand a shop answering a phone over and over when i took the time to drive to your store and give you my business and time, you could at least return the favor. That is what answering machines are for and texts won't go bad if not read immediately.

Vibram 5 fingers? Tell me this is a joke. Those are the worst thing white people have ever been tricked into wearing. Teva sandals at long last have been knocked of the podium of grossest footwear.

It was a joke as in "they are ugly". However they are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever run in, and if I'm going to be on my feet all day - my lower back loves them.

Yes, they look silly. And no, I don't own Tevas.

They may be the most comfortable "shoes" known to man. they may feel like God is massaging your feet. But I would not know because I cannot bring myself to look at them, much less put my feet inside them.

    Those. Things. Are. Fugly.

For our purposes here in the AOW, those Vibram 5-finger thingies are just as unacceptable as your wife wearing Uggs, or your man-crush being Adrien Brody. Its just plain wrong.

About a month ago, I bought a pair of these Teva hiking shoes against my better judgment. They're ugly as a hatful of assholes, but my lord they're comfortable. Maybe the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

Same thing with Chacos. I own a couple of pairs of Z/2's. They're hideous, but I've done 10+ mile hikes in them without event.

Some activities just require ugly shoes.

Lest I get my membership here revoked, I'm currently wearing a pair of Cole Haan dress boots.
