I kinda like theml, so long as your tie doesn't have sprockets on it.

They're shaped such that the average joe probably won't instantly recognize them as part of a bike chain, but that the cognoscenti get it.

I have a pair of 14k pig cufflinks that came from Lansky's in Memphis. (They were a gift.) As things that lie around on my dresser, I like them a lot, but I have a hard time finding an occasion to actually wear them. If you're wearing French cuffs, you're usually pretty dressed up, and pigs (and I suspect, chain links) don't seem to go.

I don't know why - but this reminds of a story. I was in northeastern Brazil and we were attending a wedding. I had brought a few dress shirts, a couple of them french cuff, by mistake. I let my brother-in-law use one of my shirts because my wife (his sister) was "dressing him". He yells out from his room ... "Brother - how does this thing work - where are the buttons?" He was dumbfounded at the length of the arms and confused about the odd placement of button holes - sans buttons. Kids today ..... (he was 26 or so).

Cufflinks are a great way to express your personality. If everything else about the suit is simple and clean, then go for it. I like these, but think that a chain link would be a bit too large for my tastes. Its only when there's too much going on with your suit that you run the risk of appearing campy.

I'd say that they would only work with a sprocket tie, so no. If you want to go to a formal gathering and only talk about your cycling life, then yeah wear em. But you can count on having a few of these conversations before the night is done..

If one were wearing a bespoke Italian suit and shirt requiring cufflinks, it would be appropriate to use cobalto jewels as said cufflinks.

They get some attention but not too much attention. Just enough to let people know what's up.

I recently murdered a new DA7800 rear derailleur and thought about modifying the pulleys to use as cufflinks. They turned out a bit too large.

This is as crazy as I go, and then only in the right town.
