Answer to your question is 'yes', i always follow the link to your blog. didn't know they had peaches out in AZ ... thought it'd be too cold in the winter for that.
Steve, how 'bout some info on possible messenger bags?
Ha! that went away - my buddy BW is making BOB trailer liners and other things for Bike Trailer Shop | Bicycle Cargo, Travel, and Pet Trailers and also "handlebar buckets" and mesh critter bags. He totally ditched the Messenger bag idea. Maybe when I slow down I'll heap it on the pile of all the cool things I want to do!
Thanks - Garro.
I always get pegged as building "heavy" bikes, why I don't know - maybe the touring bikes?
So I got a scale. The 26" bike with Paul dropouts which will last for a lifetime = 4.13lbs.
29er for a 180lb endurance racer, will also last a lifetime = 5.1lbs
whadda you guys think? - Garro.
What do I think?
I love your framesets, and those 2 are killer.
I'm interested in things you do to make them last a lifetime. Can you explain a little?
Generalities are fine, please don't give away any 'secret sauce'.
Ha!

Hey - Thanks! it's just the little things, I reckon - shoving 1/2 a rod of brass into the end of each stay at the dropout, and using only slightly thicker headtube stock for big bikes - that kind of stuff. Bigger fillets. Seat tube sleeves. H2O diamonds. Little things that amount to crossing your "t's' and dotting your "i's". I reckon I could drop an easy .5lb off almost every frame but what about longevity and reliability? it's not the fastest guy who wins the race - it's the 1st guy to the finish line.
the 26" had tubing that would not be out of place on a road bike - .7mm toptube, .8/.5/.8mm DT, 36.5mm OD headtube, .9/.6mm stattube, 1/.7mm CS's and "secret sauce" SS's
A 29er has the same, but maybe only .2mm thicker throughout - evey .7/.4/.7mm 29er out there is ripe for bustin'.
Shop guy EP just built a Kaisei/HJ lugged track bike that comes out at 1.16 kilo - dang!
- Garro.
