I couldn't tell you. I wear sweaters and work for the war pigs.

Have any of you duds seen the Fugazi documentary? Those guys HATED the label of "punk rock" and everything it stood for.

Is it that the movie "Instrument"? Cause that is almost unwatchable. Its two hours of boring droning feedback segments. Between interviews and feedback scenes they would play quiet interludes of their good songs.. but only for like 10 seconds each.

They tried to be too artsy.

    heh.
    instrument is fuckin awesome.
the newer fugazi albums are rad.

do you dudes know about some of the other DC bands like el gaupo, antelope, edie sedgwick, black eyes, mi ami, there are many more...i can't rmemeber now.
there's a badass band called guardian alien that we just played a show with that's real good.
there's shit goin down that's still punk rock. you guys just don't know about it coz it's still happenin in kids basements that aren't old enough to give a shit about much at all...gettin old dudes you can still be punk rock it just seems like a different type of punk rock.

I'm 100% with cookietruck about instrument and the later Fugazi recordings. Killer shit.

I don't like your tone about nickelback. If it wasn't for them, who would strippers take their clothes off to? I do miss my high school days. I would take the train to Boston for the Sunday shows at the middle east downstairs. It was something like 5 or ten bucks for a show with a whole bunch of bands. Dropkick Murphys played before they sucked, The Ducky Boys, the Unseen, Pinkerton Thugs. It hasn't been the same since the Rat closed down.

So I started picking up LPs off amazon. Its pretty cool. It seems like its standard now days that if you buy the LP,they give you a free code to download the MP3.

Who would thunk that if you buy an Op Ivy LP, you get a download coupon. WTF has this world come to?

There is this place called the local, independent music store. Maybe you've heard of it in your punk rock circles?

They're a dying breed. All the cool kids like them. Or will you never give into the fascist regime of supporting the little guy?

Probably the last time I stepped foot into a music store was 2001.

But I am far from cool. I leave that stuff to folks like yourself.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet. But here is the link for the Fugazi live series: Fugazi Live Series: A to Z

Hey, what are some other good Fugazi albums other than repeater? If I were to pick up two more, and just two more....which ones do you suggest.

I was like 10, when they were hitting their stride. And as PJN has pointed out, I am kinda a toolbag. I need to play catch up.

And dont give me the, "they are all good" response. Some are better than others.

You want 13 Songs, it is the best record they ever made. In fact it is one of the best albums of all time.

Pick up Embrace, too...Ian post-Minor Threat, pre-Fugazi. One album, great songs, clear transition between the two bands. Dance of Days is a great song.

oops besides 13 songs too. For some reason I kinda combine the two albums. I think its because the Repeater re-issue has the first 3 tracks from 13 songs. I am gonna check out Embrace.

Embrace "Can't Forgive" is still on my trainer playlist. Rites of Spring anyone?

Rites of Spring kill it. A bit too young to have caught a concert but it is something I dream about.

Acotts - just start getting their albums in chronological order. They change the sound over the years but it always Fugazi.

If you dig embrace, in the mid 90s a benefit comp came out called "Land of Greed World of Need", all 90s hardcore bands covering the embrace record. Its really good, or at least I really like it!

It is no longer in production and is available free online. Follow the link here: xSTUCK IN THE PASTx: Land of Greed... World of Need - A Homeless Benefit Compilation (1994)

I second that. If you're going to buy them online at least get them direct (LP's are $11):
    Fugazi

My current favorite Fugazi album is Red Medicine.

That sounds like a fun plan. I've really been digging lps again. They used to be such a pain to find.

    Thanks doods.
