NY Times reports the past 9 years with 4,487 American lives lost, with another 32,226 Americans wounded in action, according to Pentagon statistics.

    Staggering.

    Bring 'em home indeed.

    And don't go back. Please.

Any time we can get our men and women back on home ground is good. Peace on Earth!

It's clear that it all started as nothing but part of a campaign strategy and it's ending that way as well. Hopefully folks won't need to return, but that seems to be wishful thinking. Too many lives lost and shattered.

A good buddy of mine just got home as well as an entire Guard unit in my home town. Welcome home troops!

Bless them and those that did not get to come home.

Yea, it feels good to know this is finally becoming a memory...no sooner than the news of the last troops leaving before we heard GEN Dempsey today talking tough on Iran. Not trying to fan any flames here, but really??? Are we ready to escalate this now? Is that even a credible threat given the condition of our armed forces?

Glad we have some troops headed home; the year my son was there was a long one for me.

I fear that Iran and Pakistan are next; I think being "at war" will be the steady-state for many years to come. Not sure the region is any more stable than it was 9 years ago unfortunately.

/\/\/\/\ if anything, it is less stable. by at least a lot. (ps - not trying to start anything; i think it's just an irrefutable fact). (pps - maybe the current instability will lead to something good, but, well, there's a world of hurt between here and there.)
