Saute the mushrooms, season with S+P. Add milk and reduce. Omit H2O, the mushrooms have a loty of water.
Substitute heavy cream if you can, and a bit of veggie or chicken stock for flavor. I always finish these cream / milk
based sauces with a small dash of Worchestershire, and a dash of Tabsaco.
