This just popped up in my blog reader, Ignition, a late 80s DC band with Alex Mackeye and the usual crew.

I'm into some Good Riddance lately. Saw them twice in shows. Hard to beat.

I saw them live a couple times in the late 90's. I was 17. Great band! awesome shows.

Whoa! Thanks for the heads-up. I don't think I've seen them live since 1986 at the WUST Music Hall -- great show. I'm just not sure I'd feel comfortable in the thrash pit now that I'm in my 40s.

That was one strange show...easily the most bizaar show ever. H.R. is not doing to well. He was nutty in 81 and the following 30 years have not been kind.

Refused is doing shows with Off! who feature Keith Morris as a frontman. That show has the potential to have the most songs per minute of any this year.

Hm I didn't know that. Refused is a guilty pleasure but they fit with the theme of the thread :p I'd only be paying to hear one song.

Does Shellac count? Maybe that's more mid-late 90's.
    At Action Park
    Terraform
    1000 Hurts

Those rock my balls off every time.

quick note, possibly unrelated as i'm trying to do paperwork/biz at the same time damned printer/scanner crap.

i'm digging some Betty Blowtorch these days. it's kinda old "girl punkmetal" with a bit of motorhead influence. track 15 on Are You Man Enough (2001)is dead-on MH style.

    best tracks: 1,6,12,15. enjoy

I'm happy to see this thread alive as the closest I got to a Fugazi show was driving around the outskirts of Olympia WA in 1987ish looking for a church where they were supposed to be playing. Never found it. I haven't listened to much of this lately but boy it holds up well and brings me back. I did see Mission of Burma a few years ago; they did great especially given that they were playing an art museum.

Just saw Bad Brains with H2O and Scream at Irving Plaza, and yes, HR was pretty much not there. But the other three guys still brought it pretty hard. And seeing Scream was a serious bonus.

One of the best live shows I ever saw.
