First time I saw it, I agreed. Couldn't understand what all the hype was about. Thought it was one of the stupidest, most directionless, pointless wastes of celluloid made in recent memory. Argued incessantly with friends who are film buffs and/or actors all of whom swore up & down that it was a brilliant film with brilliant performances blah blah blah, and I thought they were just insane. That movie just plain sucked.
...and then a year later I stumbled across it again on late-night television, and I decided to suffer through it for shits & giggles...and you know what? No Country For Old Men is a great movie!!!! Yeah, the story line still offers no resolution (or much of a dramatic arc, at all, really), and it's almost painfully slow moving...but the performances by every single actor in that flick are stunning. Absolutely stunning. I stand corrected.
