While I acknowledge the correctness of the result and that he has been affirmed by the voters, that has little to do with the 'right thing' as I see it. He took on some public unions and left others alone, depending on who donated to his campaign. If this isn't government for sale, then I don't know what is. I think Gov. Walker is a disgrace and polarizes and alienates half the population in a way few politicians have ever done. Wisconsin is my home state and if I were a resident I would have voted against him. That said, the voters have voted and he remains in office. Hopefully, when his term ends, my fellow Cheeseheads can elect someone who is less divisive and able to lead the state to prosperity and stability, regardless of party affiliation. Gov. Walker has succeeded in dividing families and communities and friends with his rhetoric and I find that very unfortunate.

I've got several friends in WI that are public school teachers (and love riding bikes) that didn't make a great wage, have now lost benefits and are now worrying about their homes. They do a good job. Walker is effing rich. I don't live there, but now I'm sure I never would.

I do live in Wisconsin and have had a chance to talk to the Governor. Everyone is entitled to their perspectives, but as a Wisconson tax payer, his positions absolutely represents my best interests as a tax payer and citizen. I suppose some folks would have seen our founding fathers as "divisive" as well. If divisive means fixing what was broken, so be it.

The best way to contribute to the common good is to be self sufficient and not be a burden on your fellow citizen. A lot of people want to get taken care of, I always vote for the person who I think will help me take care of myself.

Broken, or demonized due to rigid ideological opposition?

Was the response proportional to the problem? It didn't look that way to me.

The Philadelphia School District is broken. It has a higher deficit than the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin needed some minor tweaking.

I totally understand your sentiment, and I agree absolutely. For the most part.
I also work clinically with people who are either permanently or temporarily unable to not be a "burden" on their fellow citizens (people who have suffered brain injuries and cannot work). Most of them are acutely aware that they are a burden. Many of them were extremely high functioning pre-TBI and would also subscribe to the notion of individual contribution.
There are times when all of us need to be a burden on each other. This is my definition of a working society, as it is my definition of a working family.
