No radio and plastic still covering the upholstery, but the bike fit check was done. I like your priorities. I used to have a 2002 WRX wagon. Loved that car. Fun to drive and easy storage for bikes and/or dogs.

Our powertrain dept. likes to do a baseline emissions test of our fleet/test cars before they hit the road, so until there is room/time on the dyno for this, it holds down the asphalt in the parking lot. It's killing me.

I have two -- NA is just about right weight-wise, NC is a porker. Must weigh about the same as this.
I'm talking closer to an Elise. Oh la la.

    Ack. Make that 450+lbs.
Or an LS1 in an NA since clearly I'm in fantasy land. Maybe a time share.

Damn, how did I miss this thread?

It's nice to see other Miata owners around. This is my '94 back in 2001 with 85k miles, right after I bought it. I put 4k miles on it the first month.

It has only seen mild mods (shocks, sway bars, some minor cosmetic stuff) since then. There's almost 178k miles on it now. This is from a few years ago, but it really hasn't changed since then.

My dad got me started with convertibles. He owned a '72 Triumph TR6 back when I was in my early twenties. I still remember the Easter Sunday when he let me take it for a spin. Top down, pretty girl by my side, it was great.

It might be right then that he's (most likely) going to by the Miata from me. I may be kicking myself for that later. If I could get it on the track without having to install a roll bar, I'd probably keep it.

If I'd have been able to test drive a BRZ, a WRX (none available), or a Mazdaspeed 3 (also none available), I might not have ended up with the snoozer Outback I bought.

WR Blue Pearl BRZs are rad.

My dealer here in NoVA has one. I think it has a 5 or 6K mark up to adjust for "market value." It looks like a hell of a car. If I didn't have giant dogs, it would be an awesome car for me.

Huh? Carbon fiber roof and hood, normally-aspirated 250hp car?! Crazee.

The correct solution to this problem is an Odyssey and a 87-89 911.

Eh. I'm single, don't have kids, don't drive my car to work. Really, I don't _need_ a car, and could certainly get away with something a lot less practical than my Impreza wagon. Like this or the 911 Christian mentioned.

I need to reread this thread. E30 sold tonight and cruiser will be ready to list in a couple of days (don't expect it will take long to move it). We need:

    manual tranny
    room for 4 of us
    manual tranny
doesn't need to be fast - just fun
    manual tranny
    japanese
    older than ~2005

You think a guy with two Miatas has any room to judge? Envious!

A Miata is on the what-if-I-sold-my-practical-car-and-got-something-kinda-insane list. Tops on that list is MGB GT. Preferably with a stupid V8 in it, or one that looks like this:

British Car Day 010 by Cody Wms, on Flickr

I think of the Miata as the modern, less cranky version of these. I've purposely not looked too much into Miata's, cause I don't really want to start down that road, you know?
