I'm curious here - How do you come to that conclusion? What rules are there re: break, height, and fitness?

    Thanks

Having no break does two things to wearer's overall appearance. It slims and lengthens. On an short, thick guy, a break will make him look like a schlub, no matter how expensive a suit. No break cleans thing up a bit. On average sizes, it has the same effect. No break on someone really tall would make them appear even taller. In those cases, a one inch break usually helps bring them back down to earth.

Wait, isn't your brother in law already married to your sister?

No, I'm an idiot. Your wife's brother is getting married.

There's so many different ways to have in-laws...

Ha. Yes, and Yes. and I thought of that actual thing while typing it out. Actually my sister is divorced now anyway. So I only have one valid brother-in-law technically. And yes, my wife's brother.

Big party, not in a church, Recife Brazil - during the coolest month of the year thank god.

^^^^THIS. I dunno chasea from Adam, but he Gets It about clothes.. He, and many of you other young 'uns, can wear these "Incredible Shrinking Beau Brummel" suits that are the rage but old guy desk jockey/executive shlubs like me just should flat-out never be caught in that kind of crap. As mainemike wrote..it's painful when someone insists on wearing an undeniably ridiculous getup or accessory.
Noone is messier then I when I'm kicking around the homestead...but I have never been able to adopt the modern manner of attending Church/Work/Socials/Cocktails, etc.. in really old clothes..or worse...workout gear. Crikey, I even usually get somewhat dressed to FLY, for pete's sake. Just showing my age I guess. RS wrote in another thread once that the tie, (necktie) is emblematic of one's respect..for oneself, an instituion, the occassion, etc.. and I could not agree more with that philosophy.
To my little eye..how should us old(er) guys look when spruced up? See below. Former F1 champion Damon Hill....gets it.

Anderson and Sheppard, maybe? I like that lapel roll for sure. But the chin slinky does him no favors.

If you ever ask yourself the question "Should I grow a goatee?" The answer is almost certainly no. I bet if everyone here counted the people you personally know that look good with a goatee, you wouldn't need two hands.

Huh....is is the general opinion that the above is true? I hadn't really thought of it. Wondering if it's an age thing(?) I used the pic of Hill as example of a nice blue suit on a middle-aged guy, etc.. it was less about him, per se'..but he doesn't seem to be a bad looking man. I have also seen him over the years in long hair and a full beard. My incomplete sense of Hill is that he is a somewhat shy and private man, and perhaps that explains the facial hair, etc... Another pic below...just by way of me asking the forum population about facial hair....so really...it's a no-go? I see plenty of apparently bona fide cyclists sporting one...most whom look to be under 35. Weird new territory for me...asking other men about crap like this. Perskinal Growth, Ho!

My simple rule of thumb is this: unless you're closing out games for a major league baseball team, no goatee.
