Yeah, putting pink shoelaces in cordovan bluchers is timeless; like Menudo.

I really don't think anyone will think of racism when seeing your colored laces, unless maybe you have a shaved head and have red or white laces in your Docs. I don't want to offend anyone but I wouldn't think of it.
Wing tips are pretty inoffensive as a general rule. As are most dorky cyclists like we all are.
When judging fashion trends, I always fall back on something Chase said in a thread a while back that is absolutely genius. To paraphrase, 'Don't dress like a douche, dress like JFK.'
JFK would not wear fruity shoe-laces.
I wear fruity shoelaces in my longwings pretty often. Can we still be friends?
EDIT: I do this, but it has it's place. You need to be pretty far over on the casual scale to make it work. Usually an OCBD, and now, a sweater. I.e. don't wear a tie and colored laces. YMMV.
That was Caleb.

Jackie-O said to take one thing off before you leave the house. Assuming most of you never went for the horrid fedora craze, that one thing would be your wacky shoelaces.
Also, why make it an extra PITA when it comes to your socks? They're better for showing a little color. And if you've gone crazy with the laces, you better have the correct clean pair of sock every goddamned day. Eff that noise.

but fuck man- i drunkenly bought a vivienne westwood peacoat last night. i think it was part of her new jugalo collection.
Let me just say that I think the shoes the OP posted aren't really kosher as business attire regardless of the lace color.
I think I will try to find a pair of green laces to wear in my black cap toes for Christmas. Why? Because it will make my four year old niece giggle.
JoB-
that's the way it is everywhere. the only people who think red laces in combat boots means anything else are people who don't know any actual skinheads or their political leanings.
a racist skin with red laces would get his head bashed in by his "race brothers" after they mistook him for a communist.
many very good friends of mine are skins-some of whom jewish or black (but none are both)- most skinheads in today's day and age are not racist- most are violently and i use that term literally opposed to racism.
This was my understanding as well. Strange that the southern poverty law center had defined it differently. Any experiences I ever had with a racist skins included white laces. As a jewish, shaved head (non-skin, but often confused) punk growing up, I had more encounters than I would have liked.
Man. I guess if the pic I attached didn't have red laces, there is a chance none of this would have come up. So I guess if I don red laces I should be prepared to possibly get my butt kicked. Seems most colors have meaning. Since I won't be wearing combat boots and don't fit the skinhead profile, I will probably live if I decide to mix it up a bit...

it's not like the splc has the resources to actively infiltrate hate groups and get hard data on the fashion trends of these fucking idiots.
it isn't a cohesive "movement"....i mean- i saw a guy i knew who was in the klan wearing a pair of michael jordans and a scotty pippen jersey once. people are stupid. a racist skin with red shoelaces is like one wearing a hammer and sickle t-shirt because he thinks it means something it doesn't.
back to wing tips- no one is going to accuse you of anything based on your wing tips- except maybe having bad taste in footwear.
