Default The Marketing of Masculinity: Two Links

As if I needed more proof than seeing lawyers at Target's headquarters sporting Red Wing work boots on casual Friday that the sixth winter of this economic downturn was causing women's daddy complex to kick in to overdrive and their potential mates to compensate in an effort to accommodate, my wife just sent me two links worth of evidence. Enjoy.

jitahs posted a link to an article about the new wave of old timey barber shops in the bay area where you have a choice of three haircuts, none of which will make you look like a member of a Depeche Mode tribute band. Price of said cuts is decidedly not old timey.

Thank heavens, i finally stand a chance.. I have mentioned here before about having a shop down the road that makes custom ordered, civil war re-enactment clothing. Yeah, yeah i know how shitty that sounds.

Well, i have to get dirty for a living, but hate the way most work clothes fit. You know, stove pipe legs and all. Seems as though she can get the same material that carhartt uses. She is making me a pair of pants, fitted the way i like my 501's out of the heavy, duck type material that holds up.. Why not? I have spent $80 dollars on a lot dumber shit.

80 bucks spent on something that you are going to use all the time is small change.

you guys know this is a joke?
right? or am i not getting it? anyway.
i want one of those suits that're a little too small (cuz i could def rock 'em bein' a svelte 30 inch
waist and 32 inseam and all).
problem is, i don't have one of those cubicle jobs where i could wear one.

    carhartt and dickies, alas.
