My daughter has one, made by The North Face, wornover the shoulder ala cody.wms's pic. I called her a dork for having a fanny pack, she said I was the dork for not knowing what a roo was. Not sure if I was right or she was...

That was really the first and only time in my life that I've wished I owned a gun. Not having one, I drove around the deer and went home to get my huge-ass sledge-hammer which I used to put the poor thing out of its misery. It was a messy job, but I felt I had to do it.

Also, I realized why deer are so stupid - they're heads are tiny. You can still see the gash marks in the road from the swings that missed.

Sounds good. I agree that this isn't the place for a detailed pistol discussion. I live in far northern Minnesota without any animal control, and sometimes these conversations from a unique or minority perspective don't translate very well for a general audience.

That's horrible, and I'm genuinely sorry that happened to you. Needing to end a life at close range against your will without a proper tool is a bad situation all around. I've been there, I'll never forget it, and it made me really grumpy and sad. It was one of the real low points of farm life when I was growing up.

One should always get out front of a fanny pack. Except in England. Get behind it in England.

I have no idea what that means. Aside from the fact that jerk is going to be on board.

I'm taking the day off work to ski with my dad tomorrow, and I sorta wish I had one of these:

I also discovered the the Japanese fashionistias have gotten ahold of the Minnesota-made goods.

I just don't think I can do it anymore after seeing that ^.

The fanny pack as made a recent return in the mountain bike world.

Plenty of current full suspension frames don't have bottle cage so riders that just want to carry a single bottle are using the nordic skiing style hip belts.

    It's just wrong.
I fail to see the problem here. Sling bags are a great option for those of us that don't carry much, yet want the ability to get in and out of our bags quickly and easily.

I know one person who carries a fanny pack.
    The entire contents are
    a Smith & Wesson .38.
    and a pint of tequila.
    He's in his 70s.
He can empty both with equal aplomb
    and with similar speed.
    He is my idol.

There's this one guy at my dog park who wears one. It's filled with mini bar bottles of vodka. And he swears all trees look like numbers. And he doesn't own a dog.

I have one of these in both sizes. Used the larger one as a bookbag in college, and the smaller one on bike commutes and hikes with the dogs.

    No apologies.

It's neat to watch people try to justify a fanny pack.

I think a bag like this is good for day hikes. Smaller fanny packs work well for xc skiing. And that's about it.

I don't carry much either. This is what you need.

    Roger, check, done and done.

(I was the one who brought them back.)

Also a good option for carrying water on a cyclocross bike since cyclocross bikes don't have water bottle bosses. I expect to see lots at Ballers next summer.

I had to use a big, bulky fanny pack when I was on ski patrol. Not a fan.

But I give Patagonia credit for the framing of their product shot.
