Why in God's name do you think you'd be banned for posting photos of this fantastic car? Wagons ho!

On my ride with Darren and Lukasz, we saw a VW Phaeton. I thought of you and your TSX wagon, davids.

If the CTS-V wagon gets you all hot an bothered, perhaps I could interest you in its cousin, the Corvette shooting brake?

I've never tried to fit my bike in the back.

That is an abomination against God and man. And I don't even like Corvettes.

Nothing like taking a mediocre design and throwing good money at it to make it worse.

Cadillacs, along with many other cars posted in this thread, have the potential to violate an important rule of car ownership: Never drive a car that's featured in a rap video. Wagons are probably exempt, at least for now.

If the SUV's are anything like the trucks the engine will last forever but the tranny will go around 75K. My brother has used Dodge trucks for his business and personal vehicles and every one that he had he replaced the tranny at least once and sometimes more after they hit 75K.

On a related note, I saw a GT-R in Dorchester Saturday afternoon. It was such a rare siting I actually pointed it out to my wife - I saw one last month in the Swamp Head Brewery parking lot, but before that? ...no clue.

So I saw another one yesterday, riding out in Dedham.

That was probably it for the next 7 years.

Ha. I pointed out a Ferrari to my wife a couple days ago. Her response, "I don't care". Did your wife show any interest in the GT-R?

Surprisingly, yes. I can never be sure when she's going to humor me.

    with regard to jeeps:

i'm a pretty dedicated euro-snob as far as cars go, but we have a "beater" truck in the house that gets the nod for home depot trips, bike hauling duty, and other stuff adventure loving home-owners need a trucky thing for. for this i have a 2000 grand cherokee that i got dirt cheap. in my experience these things are dead reliable, and better yet, super easy to service, readily available replacement parts that are inexpensive, and enough ground clearance to change the starter, oil, muffler, etc without lifting.

one good thing to look for is the "tow kit". this adds a heavy duty transmission cooler to the equation, that IMO, as long as you're not towing a ton, really extends the life of the trans. keep fresh oil in the crankcase, and stay on top of all the other routine maint, and i think a Jeep can provide very reliable service, particularly if you get into one with low miles, keep the maintenance up, and dont beat the snot out of it (within reason, of course). just my opinion.

My old Dakota (mopar, chrysler, dodge, etc) went for over 300,000 with only replacing the clutch once - I sold it for $3,000 to a guy that was thrilled to get it (only paid $18k brand new).

My 'new' Dakota is approaching 200,000 with basically only requiring brakes & alignments.

Both trucks came off an assembly line in Michigan. I kept the first one for well over ten years.

I don't get the inferences that Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep stuff isn't of the best quality. My experience has been the exact opposite. But, I do the routine recomended maintenance. Everybody should.

Better yet, throw an 480HP LS-3 into a 2500lb Miata:

Tacoma. The current tundra's are h-u-g-e. I am in a tundra almost daily, nice trucks for sure, but they're way too big imho.
