    Default Shorts for Skinny Kids

So, now that the weather here in the Bay Area is shaping toward the warmth of summer, the motto at my school has become "sun's out, thighs out" per the recent Chubbies movement. Yes, the name is ridiculous.

Unfortunately, for skinny buggers like me, your typical Chubby short has such a large leg opening that it makes it appear as if you have no legs whatsoever.

What are our options, lanky brethren?

Also, for those that live in places where snow is still on the ground, I'm sorry for bringing up this topic.

    Rapha Touring Short, obvi.
Outlier Ultralights (but I won't wear them because they have a pleat).
Clark-fit BB chinos, cut and hemmed at 9.5".
    Villebrequin for swimming.

    Good options above. And these:

greatest shorts in the universe - gray - toddland

Toddland shorts. Comfortable, thinner leg opening, and not chubbies.

Your favorite jeans/khakis from last year and a pair of scissors.

The first person that tries to give me shit about how that won't make a dressy enough pair of shorts, I swear to God...

I have never been accused of being skinny, and have no recommendations, but the linked to shorts at the top have an elastic waist. Deal KILLER. Good luck, and enjoy.

+1 on this. Grab some descent fitting shorts from discount retailer i.e. Marshals or T.J. Max and take them to a local taylor shop. Usually the local dry cleaners run by a super friendly Asian couple who speak little to no English is your best bet. Great quality at a super good price.

    Outlier 3-way shorts or trunks.

Most comfortable, versatile and sytlin' shorts I've ever worn. Or Nonetheless Garments if they started making their shorts again.

5'10"/135 lbs here. I'm always on the lookout for skinny clothing. Look at Swrve. I have a few pairs of their shorts. As mention previously, Outlier. I have some pants and dress shirts from them (no shorts yet) and they're perfect for skinny folks.

I love that this thread has gotten more and more attention - I ended up just going to my local Thrift Town and grabbing some shorts on which I could easily take in the inseam.

They tend to be working out alright thus far. Some of the retail options proposed are nice, but just too pricey. $80 for shorts? I won't even spend that on shoes, and I'm a fickle teenager.

just buy a pair of dickies. regular 874 or the slim straight ones.
cut them off, get them hemmed if you don't like the cut off look.
twill is nice and cool for the summer and dries quickly if you get them wet or get rained on or have to go impromptu swimming or sommat.

    no tailoring the inseam necessary.

    chubbies, bro, just no.

If going the Dickies route, which I support, I'd check out the new WP803 slim skinny work pant. It's 98% cotton, 2% spandex rather than the 65/35 blend of most Dickies. They're my new MTB shorts.

Saving the pennies for these is worth it:

I'm having my upcoming 650b bike painted in the same color. They used to call it seapunk but I think they realized their clientele cares not for such monikers. Looks way more ridiculous in person.
