Not sure if it needs a new thread but are there any detailers on the board? Care to share any tips? Just got finished with my car last night. Started with a wash, clay bar, then a polish using a porter cable 7424 with Meguiar's white wax. Used a black Lake county pad to apply and microfiber for removal. Paint is smooth a glass. Hardest part is getting into all the cracks and around the emblems. With a white car dirt collects everywhere. Also looking for a way to really deep clean the carpet. Using a shop vac but there is still quite a bit of sand that just won't budge.

Walking the dog with my wife this morning and we pass one of these, parked and going to seed. No driver's side window. Random crap stored inside. If a windfall comes my way I will be tempted to rescue it.

Some general cleaner like soapy water or Simple Green in a spray bottle. Spray on carpet, use quite a bit and make the rug wet, take a stiff brush for scrubbing a floor and go at the carpet and then clean up liquid and sand that was freed with shop vac.

My dad had a diesel delta 88 (as well as a pinto, a corvair, and a VW 412 - but that's another topic on his string of bad cars). It would get 28mpg on the highway. It had a transmission made out of some sort of material that became viscous at operating temp.

Trucks with tons of miles and rust cost waaaay too much. So instead we persuaded a pal of ours with a truck of some provenance to sell it to us. 1972 Land Rover Defender. The places it traversed are painted on the side by the original owner. The picture with the damaged side is a putative rhinoceros attack. We think the odometer has made a round, or two.

Chassis rust has just been repaired with new welded steel plates. We are good to go. Well, not far but local far. It's like a Simplex 5500 derailleur: no more obsolete today than it was 25 years ago.

Oh no...as the owner of several series ii's, iii's..they are in fact as obsolete and sad-sack as can be. Think; Lumberjacking with a stone axe. However, they are lovely, funky, and fun. Parts can get very pricey, although as a bike person you will perhaps not be so sticker-shocked. I put a new frame on the last series iii I had..the pic is somewhere here on the forum..had fabrication services done by Jeff White here in Mass. He, and Rovers North,(Vt.) are your potential friends Rover-wise. Have fun with that thing!

I would no more do the practical, sensible thing than I would give up cycling. And since I regularly ride Huret Jubilee derailleurs, I know what it means to admire something that barely works.
