Not having the internet, TV, tablets or phones (pretty much) while vacationing in Colorado last week yielded some positive life-changing experiences. Kid's got a good eye! (as does her Mom) And I have something new to take away if chores are not done.
De nada. Here's the condensed version of Scott Cutshall's story if you or your customer find his blog overwhelming. I hadn't looked at his site in years and while I know there is some good reading there you really have to dig to find it.

After 13 years of teaching I received an email from a parent today (3rd day of school) saying she and her company wants to give me $1500 to buy stuff for my class. That is more than my pay check and I am over the moon!

My sister (public school) and sis in law (catholic school) know exactly whereof you speak. The idea that a teacher on such a limited salary and facing down 9 straight months of criticism from disengaged parents has to spend a significant portion of their paycheck on construction paper and glue for said parents' brats is something I cannot fathom.

The world has spun off its axis. I'm starting the feel good thread this week.
Got the frame back last night, new headset in, this morning I installed the fork and crankset before coming to work... it'll be short work tonight to hang the rest of the parts and get the stepping razor back on the road.
Good thing I'm not WFH today or, well, you know...
My throat is now healed up from a tonsillectomy so I am free to start riding starting now. With any luck, I will ride till my quads fail me this weekend.
I don't typically ride this bike to work, but my wife is picking me up at 5pm, the bike is going on the roof, and we are headed to NJ.
Two days of riding in the Morris County area, followed by a week at the beach.
(EddieB- I'm hitting the Stirling Hotel on Sunday; will mail you a cheezborga.)

While walking my pups this morning I found a scared little pup hiding under a bush on the trail. It had a collar, leash and tags. Oh but not a tag with it's owners name or it's name.
I coaxed him over so I could at least take off the leash so he wouldn't get hung up on anything. He got along with my brown and black dog and he walked with me on the trails for 1.5 hours. Right before I got back to the road his owner was looking for him. Reunion and smiles.
Happy ending...

I love your bike.
Now that that's off my chest, it's been a shit week. But since it's Friday, we'll focus on the anti-grump. In 6 hours I'll be sitting in the pool with a beer. Tomorrow is the first day in probably 3 months that I don't have to be somewhere after I ride. So that means 4-5 hours of pedaling, followed by 4-5 hours of bike tune-ups. The whole fleet is getting some love and, in case you're wondering, it's such a departure from what I do all day at work that I can't wait. I'll cap the weekend off with a charity ride my team is organizing on Sunday; I'll get 62 miles of police escort rolling enclosure with a bunch of friends.
This was exactly my experience a few weeks ago when we were up at my parents place in VA. Taught my 7.5yr-old to shoot the 10/22. She's a heck of a good shot and had a absolute blast with it. We were having trouble getting her to bed one night and in desperation her mother said "Sydney, if you don't listen you will loose 10-shots tomorrow!" Perfect angel after that.
laughter has no foreign accent.
One other thing...it's almost September. And in September I'm going to Asheville and Nantahala for a week of riding and relaxing. And I just locked in the second cabin which means it's a done deal. Stoked.
Auk's words to live by:
Blow up and pin a picture of M. Bartoli on your wall. When you achieve that position, stop. Until then, stretch, ride, stretch, ride, eat less, and ride more.
Got the okay to run again (it's been three months) and I never thought I'd ever miss running...but I have. Over the next two months it'll be a slow return to actual running.
In the last week two frames have sold and now it's just one high $ item to go and I'll start a new project
Best of all got out for a fun ride with my best buddy today. It was about 30 years ago when we went on our first ride together.

I lost a bottle cap on a really rough road a while back. Decided to see if I could buy a replacement for it. Turns out Polar will send you a free replacement bottle cap as part of their lifetime guarantee. Really like the bottles, this is a nice surprise.
