Okay, not really OT but talk about someone's Karma that has run into is Dogma! T.O., hoping your embarrassment will not last much longer.

March 7, 2007: ”What I compare bike lanes to is swimming with the sharks. Sooner or later, you’re going to get bitten. And every year we have dozens of people that get hit by cars or trucks. Well, no wonder,” Ford said, expressing his distaste for cyclists. “Roads are built for buses, cars and trucks. Not for people on bikes. And my heart bleeds for them when I hear someone gets killed, but it’s their own fault at the end of the day.”

Can someone explain to this Boston resident how Rob Ford came to be elected? I mean, really? He got a majority of the people of Toronto thinking he was the best man for the job?

The last time I played Toronto, the show's promoter had to leave the show and sell crack to pay us our guaranty.

Sounds like six degrees of Rob Ford right there, Chase.

Well, like other former British empire colonies with legacy electoral systems,
One doesn't need a majority of votes to become Mayor, or any elected office, just a plurality
of votes. So yeah, we had a popular Mayor David Miller that was a shoe in to win another term who decided not
to run again, and we ended up with a vacuum of quality candidates ( cause who the fuck wants
    to be mayor anyway ).

A guy like Ford gets elected becuase not enough people vote, mostly
because people think it doesn't matter. Two left leaning candidates split the liberal vote,
Ford effectively played the downtown urban elites vs suburban average joes wedge.
He got 47% of the vote with about 53% voter turnout, 383,000 votes, population of Toronto
is 2.8 million souls, many of whom I will assume will be reconsidering staying home next Election Day.

You make a promise, you do what you have to.. Even if it is selling ice to the kids in the street. A promise, is a promise.

Ford is a wonderful cautionary tale...that no one will remember next election.

I guarantee there are a sizable number of Torontoans who are looking at Ford's actions and saying "Yeah man, you give 'em hell Robby boy! Give those elitists the what for!"
