Week of "more of the same and repeat"...
nothing glamorous this week, just repetition and toil for the allotted hours, producing bars and my last set of cranks for the year. I've got three more ti bars to finish tomorrow then gonna take a few days to enjoy the family over Christmas.

Best wishes to my V-Salon family over the holidays.

Re: Week of "more of the same and repeat"...
I'm not sure how I feel about that.
There is so much different in the crucial area of ergonomics, I almost wish it did not look so much like my bar. Undoubtalbly, folks will feel this is a "cheaper" option to try the feel, when in reality the two are quite divergent in fit.
Truth be told, I couldn't make more bars myself than I am right now, so I've really little to lose with this cosmetic duplication. Would have been nice if they'd asked though.

I reckon I'd at least have to drop a call down to Junk & Bargains to tell them how I really felt.
Or maybe have one of my lawyer friends do it for me.

I'm available for beatdowns. Just sayin'.
*For the record "beatdowns" could be a reference to some quasi-hippy poetry event.

Re: Week of "more of the same and repeat"...
For the record, those cranks are awesome and I will own a pair. I just gotta stop spending all my money on the van.

Re: Week of "more of the same and repeat"...
TT,
They were not available in the 180mm version. Plus we would have wanted the titanium version and they are still being hashed out in the production end of things. Trust me I looked into it. The good part is they work flawlessly with the Praxis BB in the bike so when they are available it is a simple switch of the crank.
Happy Holidays Rody!

Re: Week of "more of the same and repeat"...
Bill first used the design in 1978 on a pair of experimental cranks, took the idea with him to Hutch racing and designed two different cranksets for them, but did not include the polygon. When he left and started Grove Innovations in 1982, he settled on the Hot Rod, making them until about 96.
When Shimano came out with their outboard bearings, I bought the license from Bill and they were redesigned to their current form.
E13 began using the polygon, touting it was their idea...hard to come up with something new in cycling folks :)
@TT...see me at Nahbs, we'll see about a set of Ti Cranks for ya :)

Goodbye 2013...
Knocking out the final bits for the year, and had a rare chance to go out and play.
Groovy Cycleworks 330-988-0537: Goodbye 2013...
and as a nod to Kris's self portraits, I pushed beyond my techi comfort zone and downloaded a free app for my phone in a amateur attempt to get an action pic...

bending thin wall tubing...
Interested in methods of bending thin wall tubing for bicycles? I took a few of these impromptu videos with the intention of stringing them together into a tutorial, but they have set alone and lonely on the hard drive for too long. So, here ya go, the first of a few videos on techniques to bend thin wall tubing into clean, flowing shapes.
