I ride with a cap nearly 100% of the time. Aside from the fact it is practical, can be used in times of apocalypse to filter fetid water or shield your eyes from the sun...they look great on or off the bike.

Bill Strickland recently commissioned a hat with Walz who also makes the VSalon caps and we love them we love Bill's ideas too.

Being bald, i wear a cap all the time. Favs are ones from Little Package, AllOneWord, Cognition, and Walz.

I wear a cap about half the time. I have a small-ish head, so those cheap cotton ones that shrink easily work really well for me. The VS hat by Walz wouldn't shrink enough for me to wear it, which is a bummer because it felt really nice. It's now being worn pretty much around the clock by a friend. I recently picked up a few from Rothera, and they're hands down the most comfortable cycling caps I've ever had.

The coolmax Zank caps from 3-4 years ago are the best ever for 3 season (FL) comfort. Kit designers take note.

In this cold weather, I've been wearing my VS cap in the shop most of the time. With my "thinning" hair, I tend to get pretty cold even with fleece lined jeans and three layers on top. The shop is about 45 degrees today and it ain't going to get any warmer with the paint booth fan on. So the cap keeps a bit more heat from escaping. It's starting to get a bit crusty with paint fumes though.

Not defunct, but I found one of the $5 el cheapo Lampre hats on the roadside while climbing Japatul in Alpine, CA last year. It's my around-town hat, love it.

My favorite cotton cap ever is the Zank, but oddly I don't wear it as much as I often ride in Zank kit have a strange aversion to being too matchy.

Colder temps or rain - the poly Verge ATMO hats is my pick.

I never wear one except in winter when I wear a merino wool hat under my winter-only XL helmet. It was kind of spendy but honestly getting a larger helmet for winter and a quality merino hat to fill that extra space was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

They look great, do they sit really deep? Looks perfect for riding sans helmet in hot sun.

They do sit very deep. Not covering the ears kind of deep but when pulled down, they sit just at where my ears sprout from my noggin. And with a fabric tape, that's somewhere in the 13-14" range on my noggin ear to ear. Unlike some of the other unfortunate soles mentioned here, I have a thick head of hair... So if the cap's panels are shallow, the damned thing starts to pop off (my hair also when grown out at any length has large curls... adding to the volume). Chuey's classic black version is great. Dresses up, dresses down and can be worn under a helmet no problem. Also can be worn under a welding helmet. I wear one every time I weld.

Love the Walz with the center panel/stripe. Also a wool Walz with panels, great for colder rides.

My VSalon cap is too big for my large dome. If you have a huge head, it's yours for the cost of shipping, or a cool white elephant gift type exchange.

If you ever move back to an area where it gets cold, don't hesitate to buy the Ibex Coppi Merino cap. Perfect, generous fit, covers the ears and has a soft short bill to keep cold air from sneaking behind the glasses. It occupies a small space in the helmet and provides a lot of warmth.

It's one of my favorite items.
