Thanks Tyler. Given Firefly's attention to process and detail I wouldn't have expected otherwise.

I'm looking forward to it also!

I've bought enough custom bikes that I fully realize the builders balance their time between communication, marketing, etc and that these things have an impact in how many bikes they can build. I accept that going in and don't have a problem with it.

Having said that, I think everyone who is waiting on a custom frame wants progress to be made on building it. Sorry if you've got a problem with that.

Then why ask that question here? Did you really think there was a chance you were being adversely affected? If you have questions of your builder, contact them directly instead of raising questions about their business here. Tyler and co. at Firefly are very sharp and they wouldn't have taken on any project they couldn't handle masterfully.

Because the whole point of this forum is to ask frame builders questions. Stop being an ass.

This is a forum for an exchange of information amongst the group. Certain queries are more suited to a one on one dialogue with your builder. If things aren't proceeding as you'd like, start the conversation with the builder.

I never said things weren't going well. I asked simple question about how they were fitting the adventure bikes into their regular schedule. Tyler gave a great answer. That's it.

I think it was a fair question.

And the answer makes me want a Firefly even more!!

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?

Ditto. The bikes are rad and the people solid, what's not to want.

No problems with any question. No worries one way or the other. Ask them here or ask them directly via phone or email. Either way we'll do our best to answer.

It was a valid question anyway. I know a lot of builders that get themselves into serious pickles with projects that go way over their capacity to deliver. I feel like NAHBS puts a lot of builders in a bad place every year, way worse than most self generated marketing strategies. I would rather pick my own path than pile on with others, although I really love the community surrounding NAHBS, until it makes sense to do it, we won't. For now we will focus our efforts on things that we can control and grow in a reasonable and tangible way. Like an adventure team, for instance.

Stay tuned for the team's launch :: end of March.

To elaborate on the question and why I asked it.
    1. It was a process question, not a gripe. I was an avid follower of the thread about the process of acquiring, refitting and building out the current Firefly location and an admirer or not only what they did but how they did it. Aside from the fact that I think the bikes are cool, that thread has a lot to do with why I'm in the queue for a Firefly.
    2. I put the "selfish mode" quotes in the OP mostly as a joke. From a process point of view, it's interesting to me how a small outfit like Firefly or any other small framebuilder balances marketing, developing new products and just doing things that get their juices flowing against the process of delivering to customers. It's a tough balance to strike and as Tyler alluded to above, it's pretty easy to get wrong.
    3. As I said in the OP, I think the Adventure project is cool. Even if Tyler had replied by saying they made room for the adventure bikes by bumping customer bikes I'd have been OK with that.
    4. Based on everything I've read about Firefly and my personal experience thus far, if there had been any impact on customer orders by taking on the Adventure project I'd have expected the Firefly guys to reach out to their customers and let them know. Those guys are solid.
    5. Finally, I've given Firefly about the strongest vote of confidence any of us can give: a deposit for a bike.

So relax everybody, it was just a simple question.

So is there anything special about the Adventure bikes.. like special tubing or whatever? Or these are just like any FF bike that a customer can order? :)

    Totally waiting for the launch...
